Welcome to the World of Nick Sharman

The TV series

1995 saw Nick Sharman arrive in a new medium, television; in the guise of Clive Owen who at the time was best known for his role in Chancer.

The television series produced by World Productions started in 1995 with The Turnaround, then a year later four more episodes were screened.

Clive Owen as Nick Sharman

The plots of the episodes are basically the same as the books, some events are taken from other books and added, some characters names are different and there is the introduction of Shaman's shoplifting secretary Aggie. It still makes excellent viewing.

Clive Owen is great as Sharman, he is just as you imagine him from the book, the females in my life all think Clive is very, very good looking so that justifies the amount of sex Sharman gets in the series (four women in five episodes which ain't bad). Owen's delivery of the sarcastic lines is spot on too. He really gets into the part in the latter episodes especially A Good Year for the Roses.

Clive Owen, Grahame Fox, and Suri Krishnamma

The photo above shows Clive Owen, Grahame Fox and Suri Krishnamma.

Grahame Fox plays DI Jackson who arrests Shraman for the muder of the accountant. The scene with him in the police station is one of my favourites. Grahame has also been in The Bill no less than four times and stared in the films Lava and Bodywork.

Thanks Grahame for the photo.

Mark Timlin
